GDS (Global Distribution System) is an IT system used by Travel Agents to book flight tickets, hotels, car rentals and cruises.

At present there are about 600,000 travel agents using GDS. In addition these travel agents, hundreds of on-line booking websites also use the data to sell rooms.

There are 4 GDSs worldwide: Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo and Worldspan
